After many years and different places, Matt finds himself back home again in Indiana. Matt grew up in Warsaw, IN and attended Purdue University, graduating in 1994 from their Aviation Professional Pilot Program. But this was not the immediate path Matt took after 4 years in flight school. It was also during this time that Matt found himself writing music and playing keyboards for an indie Christian pop/rock duo known as Faith. With their own studio Matt learned his first ins and outs of both recording and the business side of music while recording three albums and playing close to 100 dates a year during Matt's first post college years.
In 1999 Matt he says he “quit music and moved to Nashville, TN”. After landing a “real” job as a pilot and the ability to live almost anywhere he had a friend that needed a roommate and so he made the move south. Matt found himself playing again when he could but soon decided to start putting the equipment together to build a studio of his own where he would be able to help emerging artists by recording and producing their music. Shortly after buying his first place he had a studio set up that was on par with many home studios in Music City and eventually built a dedicated space, added to his gear, and sat in on sessions when he could to learn from respected engineers and producers.
Matt continued recording and producing a number of indie artists and was also part of the band Eight Days Later, whom he produced and recorded their well received album, Awake, in 2008. After 11 years in Nashville Matt and his wife made the move up north, outside the Chicago area, for job related convenience but also found himself just as busy in the studio. During this time he found himself recording a wide variety of material ranging from heavy metal, to urban gospel, and even foreign artists from Europe.
With the birth of their daughter in 2014, music got put on the back burner for the most part but with it also came the desire to be closer to family again and they made the move to Carmel, IN in the spring of 2016. Wanting to spend time working on more personal material that was meaningful to him Matt started writing and composing music that seemed fitting for film or picture. Matt says he has always been drawn to the emotional element of music that is created by different textures, atmospheres, and ambiances of sound. Matt now has a dedicated space again to record and produce artists and material on any level. Whether it be his own material or another artist Matt wants to be creating music and soundscapes that capture and move ones mind, heart and soul. A place that is fun and creative....something like being a kid again in a sandbox.
